Abstraction: Full Frame Theater
Durham, NC
October 2016
When I take my Night Photo students on a field trip, it’s hard for me to focus on taking pictures. This year, I decided to give myself a mission: out-of-focus abstractions.
I’m always preaching to my students about pushing “the Wrong button” and not being afraid to break the rules. But, to my chagrin, I realized one taboo I’d never crossed off the list was shooting out of focus. Afraid? Kinda.
For all my out-of-focus shots, I tried a range of “blurriness,” looking for the sweet spot between abstraction and information.
See more of this series in the Abstract category.
